Food Retailers in New A380 Airbus Terminal Offer Contactless Payments
The new CD terminal at Frankfurt Airport is hosting two of the biggest developments in air travel: the A380 Airbus, the world’s largest airplane, seating 525 people on two decks, and MasterCard® PayPass™, which is now accepted for payment at food retailers on the A380’s economy boarding level. Successfully introduced at 16 outlets in the airport earlier this year, PayPass service was expanded to the new terminal in June and welcomed with a press event that drew wide print and television coverage.

Attendees Get Easy, Secure Way to Pay in Festival Grounds
Prepaid Maestro® PayPass™ cards offered attendees at this year’s Coke Live Festival in Cracow, Poland, an easy, secure way to pay within the music festival’s grounds during the two-day event in late August. The project, one of Europe’s first to use PayPass technology at a large-scale mass event, was made possible by cooperation among festival organizer AlterArt, the acquirer eService, and MasterCard Worldwide.
An alternative solution to festival vouchers, the PayPass-enabled cards, issued by Bank Zachodni WBK, allowed cardholders to make purchases at all commercial points operating within the festival area, including more than 30 retail points of sale. In early August, MasterCard Worldwide announced that Taco Bueno, the U.S.-based Mexican quick-service-restaurant (QSR) chain, is now accepting MasterCard® PayPass™ contactless payments, in addition to traditional magnetic-stripe payment cards, at all of its corporate store locations. Customers can use their MasterCard PayPass card or device to simply Tap & Go™ to pay for menu items at the counter or even in the drive-through, enabling them to make purchases quickly and conveniently.
