Taco Bueno Adds Quick and Convenient Payments to Its Menu with MasterCard® PayPass™
QSR Seeks to Offer Customers Better Point-of-Sale Experience
In early August, MasterCard Worldwide announced that Taco Bueno, the U.S.-based Mexican quick-service-restaurant (QSR) chain, is now accepting MasterCard® PayPass™ contactless payments, in addition to traditional magnetic-stripe payment cards, at all of its corporate store locations. Customers can use their MasterCard PayPass card or device to simply Tap & Go™ to pay for menu items at the counter or even in the drive-through, enabling them to make purchases quickly and conveniently.
Taco Bueno, recognized for using fresh ingredients and offering unique items at fast-food prices, operates corporate locations and has franchises in Arkansas, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
“For our customers, who are often on the go, MasterCard PayPass provides a faster and more convenient way to pay,” said Scott Terraciano-Spence, senior vice president, Marketing, Taco Bueno. “We continually look for ways to enhance our customers’ dining experiences, whether through diverse menu choices or, in this case, a better experience at the point of sale.”
PayPass contactless payments are designed to enable small-ticket purchases that are quick, secure, and easy. Customers simply tap their PayPass-enabled MasterCard card or device on a PayPass reader to make a purchase, eliminating the need to hand their card over to a cashier or fumble for cash. MasterCard PayPass also does not require customers to sign receipts for purchases under $25, further speeding transactions.
“Merchants in busy environments like quick-service restaurants increasingly recognize the value of accepting MasterCard PayPass, which provides greater speed and convenience at the point of sale,” said Cathleen Conforti, senior vice president, Global PayPass, MasterCard Worldwide. “Taco Bueno’s acceptance of PayPass will help improve customer service with shorter, faster lines.”
According to MasterCard research, consumer preference and satisfaction is driving PayPass growth and usage globally. A 2007 MasterCard PayPass Benchmark Study found that about 90% of PayPass-using respondents were satisfied with their experience, and 71% of PayPass consumers said they use PayPass as their primary card for everyday purchases.
